The purpose of BC is to instill in its students faith in pure devotional
service and Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is achieved
by directly teaching the limbs of pure devotional service, and by also
teaching knowledge though not directly related to pure bhakti, like
Vedic or contemporary sciences and arts, in a way that ultimately
concludes in pure devotion.
ISKCON
is meeting its need for increased systematic education. In 1995, devotees from
VTE (Vaishnava Training and Education) and the European Communications
Leadership Team began to discuss the creation of a Ministerial Programme to
train devotees in teaching, preaching, and leadership. These ideas gradually
evolved and were further considered in several educational and missionary forums
in ISKCON. The devotees involved created the course structure, curriculum, and
academic facilities of Bhaktivedanta College, which opened in September 2002 at
Radhadesh (Belgium).
